Solar panels, sometimes referred to as photovoltaic cells, are used to collect solar energy, which is a renewable resource. They are available in a variety of sizes to accommodate a range of uses, including reducing domestic energy use, supplying extra electricity to the grid, and recharging electric vehicles. Banks of batteries are commonly referred to as power walls, can be used to store the energy generated by solar panels for later use.
Since 2020, the Town has approved 52 new solar projects in Halton Hills. To learn more about required permits for solar installations email Building Services.
