Stay informed about temporary service interruptions, facility closures, and program cancellations due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Updates are provided through multiple channels, including a dedicated phone line, recreation hotline, website, and social media, ensuring timely and accessible communication. Decision-making processes for early morning and same-day closures are also outlined to help residents plan accordingly.
Kiwanis Field: The artificial turf and track at Georgetown District High School will be closed for replacement of the artificial turf and track. The reopening date is expected in late September. No access to the facility during closure.
Outdoor Courts: Special event dates in which courts will not be available during the standard hours: Emmerson Park closed September 19-21 or September 26-28. Prospect Park September 17-21.
All grass sports fields and diamonds are closed between September 22, 2025 and late April 2026 for seasonal maintenance. This allows the fields to rest, especially during the wettest time of the year when the most damage can occur. During this time, parks staff complete maintenance, repairs, and improvements. Please respect the sport field and diamond closures. Parks, trails, and outdoor spaces remain open for use.
Program cancellations are actively updated online during normal weekday operating hours. Recreation facility closures due to inclement weather or other causes will be communicated in the following ways:
During regular business hours |
Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
|
After hours, weekends and holidays |
Monday to Friday after 4:30 p.m. and before 8:30 a.m., as well as Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays.
If your program is organized through a third party, please contact your leagues for updates. On business days when inclement weather occurs, closure and cancellation decisions will be made for daytime programs by 7:00 a.m. for programs that start at 9:00 am or later, and for evening programs by 2:00 pm. |
