Closures

Stay informed about temporary service interruptions, facility closures, and program cancellations due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Updates are provided through multiple channels, including a dedicated phone line, recreation hotline, website, and social media, ensuring timely and accessible communication. Decision-making processes for early morning and same-day closures are also outlined to help residents plan accordingly.

Pool Closures

GELLERT PLAY POOL CLOSURE - SUNDAY, AUGUST 24, 2025: Please note that the play pool will be closed for the duration of the day due to a pool fouling. All swimming will take place in the 25m lane pool. Note, the play pool is the warmer, shallow pool and includes the ducky slide and blue twisty slide. We apologize for the inconvenience. The pool will be reopened to normal on Monday, August 25.

Maintenance Closures

GELLERT POOL MAINTENANCE CLOSURE:
Please be advised that the Gellert Community Centre will be closed for annual maintenance from September 1 to September 14, 2025. During this period, Indoor access will be limited to the Customer Service Desk only. There will be no access to indoor amenities, including washrooms, water fountains, and vending machines. Customer Service Hours will be Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Saturdays and Sundays (September 6, 7, 13, and 14).

HILLSVIEW GEORGETOWN MAINTENANCE CLOSURE:
Please note that Hillsview Georgetown will be closed from August 25-29 for maintenance, reopening on Monday, September 1.

Inclement Weather Policy for Recreation Programs

Program cancellations are actively updated online during normal weekday operating hours. Recreation facility closures due to inclement weather, or other causes will be communicated in the following ways:

During regular business hours

Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

An update will be posted on the closures page
The program will be marked "cancelled" on our online registration system
A message will be recorded on the Town's recreation hotline at 905-873-2600 ext. 2708 or 2275

After hours and weekends

Check for a pre-recorded message at 905-873-2600 ext. 2708
Contact the recreation facility directly. For a list of recreation facilities, check your program registration confirmation or visit our facilities page.

If your program is organized through a third party, please contact your leagues for updates.

On business days when inclement weather occurs, closure and cancellation decisions will be made for daytime programs by 7:00 a.m. for programs that start at 9:00 am or later, and for evening programs by 2:00 pm.
