The Vision Georgetown Secondary Plan contains policies that require a block plan be submitted for consideration and endorsement by Council before any individual Draft Plan of Subdivision or Zoning By-law Amendment applications filed by the landowners within the Vision Georgetown lands can be approved. Block plans are detailed development plans for a defined area that provide a greater level of detail than a secondary plan. They are intended to implement an approved secondary plan and further coordinate development.
A block plan for Vision Georgetown was submitted on behalf of the major landowners in the spring of 2025. The Vision Georgetown Block Plan includes the following details:
Five separate Draft Plan of Subdivision and Zoning By-law Amendment applications were submitted in 2021 by the private landowners for the majority of the lands within Vision Georgetown. These applications are currently under appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) and a decision by the OLT will not occur until the Vision Georgetown Block Plan is endorsed by Council. The block plan and related technical materials are currently under review by staff and there is currently no timeframe for when a recommendation may be brought forward for Council endorsement.

In a January 19, 2024, decision by the Ontario Land Tribunal a modified version of the Vision Georgetown Secondary Plan was finalized.

There are two main components of the Vision Georgetown planning project:
A land use planning study (known as a secondary plan); and,
A subwatershed study which deals with all aspects of the natural environment.
On July 9, 2018, Council for the Town of Halton Hills adopted by by-law, Official Plan Amendment No. 32, regarding the Vision Georgetown Secondary Plan. The Notice of Adoption was provided on July 19, 2018.

On September 25, 2020, the Region of Halton had released its Notice of Decision approving the Vision Georgetown Secondary Plan with modifications. The last day to file appeals with the Region was on October 15. Six appeals were filed with the Region. A hearing date with the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) has not yet been set.
