Tree Voucher Pilot Program

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, the Town is launching a new Tree Voucher Pilot Program. The new program supports residents in planting more resilient, mature trees on their property, helping to more effectively increase the local tree canopy.

How do I get my voucher?

Visit the customer service desks at the Gellert Community Centre, Mold-Masters SportsPlex or the Acton Arena and Community Centre after the April 26 launch date. Vouchers will be given out during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Don't wait, supplies are limited.
Provide proof of Halton Hills address, and receive your tree voucher. One voucher per Halton Hills address.

How do I use my voucher?

Visit Reds Garden Centre (Acton) or Sheridan Nurseries (Georgetown location only) with your tree voucher and select a tree of $50 or more
Provide your voucher to the cashier to receive $30 off your tree purchase

Voucher can only be used one time, in-person, by Halton Hills residents only, maximum number of vouchers available in 2023 is 500, pilot program runs from April 26 to October 31, 2023.

Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan

The Town of Halton Hills and Credit Valley Conservation have developed a Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan for the Hungry Hollow - Delrex Neighbourhood. This plan advances the Town's Climate Change Adaptation Plan and identifies actions to help the community become more environmentally sustainable and resilient to the impacts of climate change. Earth Week 2023

Halton Hills celebrated Earth Week from April 21 to 28, where residents, organizations, businesses, and schools took actions to support a healthy environment, strong local tree canopy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen the resiliency of our community. Some highlights from the week are:

20 local schools registered for the 22-Minute Makeover and Community Clean up. About 100 residents registered and held group cleanups. Gloves were provided by Superior Glove.
750 visitors attended the Race to Net Zero event, a collaboration between the Town of Halton Hills and Your Green Homes from Acton.
The annual Halton Hills Bike Swap recycled about 60 bikes and trikes and raised $2,450 for local foodbanks.
Two tree planting events - 200 trees were planted by Trees for Halton Hills and Scouts Canada, and 175 trees planted by Credit Valley Conservation and volunteers.
The Tree Voucher Pilot Program was launched. This pilot program is a collaboration between Reds Garden Centre in Acton, Sheridan Nurseries in Glen Williams and the Town of Halton Hills. Vouchers are available during regular business hours at the Acton Arena, Gellert Community Centre and Mold-Masters SportsPlex. 500 vouchers are available for 2023.
Residents picked up garden compost and mulch at the free Compost and Woodchip Giveaway that was held at the Robert C. Austin Operations Centre.
Halton Hills Public Library held family activities and participated in the Race to Net Zero event during Earth Week.
