HALTON HILLS, ON – In response to new regulations issued by the Government of Ontario, program participants 18+ years and spectators 12+ years will need to show proof of a COVID-19 double-dose vaccination to enter Town of Halton Hills’ recreation facilities as of September 22, 2021. Residents will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide a ‘proof of vaccination receipt’ along with one piece of government-issued identification to access certain facilities and settings.
Residents are also reminded that the Town’s online screening protocol remains in effect; this screening is to be completed within 24 hours of entering a facility.
“I recognize that this is an additional requirement of program participants,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette, “But this is a new way of doing business for everyone, and I would ask for the public’s patience as we adjust our operations accordingly. There may be delays at facilities as we go through the required process of checking people’s vaccination status.”
The proof of vaccination requirement will be implemented at the following locations (identified as meeting the provincial order criteria and offering programs considered higher risk for viral transmission):
While waiting to enter a facility, residents are asked to have their pre-screening completed and proof of vaccination documents ready to show staff upon entry. Acceptable proof can either be a printed version of the vaccination receipt or a PDF of the receipt displayed on a phone/device; both options require accompaniment by government- issued ID. Per the Ministry of Health guidelines, only written documentation of a medical exemption as provided by a physician or nurse practitioner will be accepted.
