HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town of Halton Hills is launching two new initiatives in celebration of Small Business Week to support new and growing businesses, and aid in the recovery and resiliency of local small businesses.
“Taking this opportunity to celebrate the contributions small businesses make to our community is so important,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “As a member of the Economic Recovery Task Force, I am happy to support initiatives that help in the recovery and resiliency of one of the hardest hit sectors of this pandemic.”
The two initiatives set to be launched during Small Business Week, October 17-23, to support small businesses in Halton Hills include:
Beginning October 18, the ‘Shop the Hills Contest’, will send local shoppers on a scavenger hunt for a chance to win one of 10 hidden $100 Chamber of Commerce gift cards. Clues to the locations of the hidden gift card tins will be posted on the Town’s social media channels twice weekly.
The contest is part of the "Shop Local" campaign launched this past August, held in partnership with the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce, Acton and Georgetown BIAs. New "Shop Local" store window decals and bright green reusable shopping bags are also being distributed to businesses to encourage shoppers and promote consumer confidence. The Town-led elements of the ‘Shop Local’ campaign will be complemented by the "Shop the Hills" initiatives of the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce later in the 2021 holiday season.
Local small businesses, including start-ups, home-based businesses and entrepreneurs, are invited to book free studio space and equipment at the Halton Hills Public Library for their DIY photography product. Between October 19-22, this exclusive space, equipped with a lightbox and tripod is available to create picture perfect shots of your business products. Book the space on your own or with the assistance of a professional photographer for one-on-one support. For more information and to book a space, visit HaltonHills.ca/PicturePerfect (event no longer available).
The program is a partnership between the Town of Halton Hills Economic Development, Innovation and Culture Division, and the Halton Hills Public Library. Learn more on the Town of Halton Hills website.
The Small Business Week initiatives support and build on the Town’s Economic Recovery and Resiliency Plan (ERRP), designed to help businesses stay open during the pandemic and become more resilient over time.
More information about the EERP, including an infographic outlining the various initiatives, is available on the Invest Halton Hills ERRP webpage.
