HALTON HILLS, ON –Two new exhibitions will be presented at the Town of Halton Hills Cultural Centre. The Halton Black History Awareness Society’s "Annual Emancipation Art" exhibition is on view from July 28 – September 4 in the Sisnett Lobby. This vibrant exhibition features 12 artists in a variety of media exploring the meaning of freedom. Artists include Nicole Alexander, Joan Butterfield, Claire Carew, Amber Carroll, Neville Clarke, Getachew Fantu, Ian Grant, Ken John, Sheryl A. Keen, Charmaine Lurch, Phade and Ghislan Timm.
The Helson Gallery reopens on August 4 with "New Acquisitions", a showcase of 50 works of art donated to the Town of Halton Hills in 2020. Free drop-in arts and crafts activities for children will be offered at the gallery on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons during August. Please note that the current capacity limit in the gallery is 25 people. The exhibition continues until September 19.
“With the move to step 3, I am pleased to see the reopening of the Helson Gallery. Experiencing these new exhibitions in person (while adhering to all safety protocols) is a great way for the public to reconnect with art in our community,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.
The Cultural Centre is located at 9 Church St., Halton Hills and is open Wednesdays – Saturdays from 1 – 5 pm during July and August. The Helson Gallery is staffed by volunteer docents and hours may be subject to their availability. Masks and social distancing are required when visiting.
