HALTON HILLS, ON – Celebrate arts, culture, and community from September 24 - October 24 with over 75 activities showcasing an array of artistic disciplines, local heritage, cultural landmarks, public art, and more. This year the public is invited to participate in Culture Days events organized by local artists, arts groups and organizations, and the Town of Halton Hills. Activities are scheduled to take place outdoors throughout the community with presentations held outdoors, indoors, at cultural landmarks and online. Some events may have limited capacity. COVID-19 safety measures applicable to in-person events.
“We’re thrilled to see community participation increase again this year for Culture Days in Halton Hills,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “Individual artists and community groups have really stepped up to deliver interactive and engaging programs for the public to enjoy. Cultural and creative diversity is at the heart of this year’s programming and reflects the Town’s strength and vibrancy.”
This year during Culture Days, residents are invited to discover the Town’s newest public art project "Under Wraps". The project reimagines utility boxes as canvases to enliven the streetscape. The first offering of this project is being installed throughout September and features the artwork of nine local artists on vinyl wraps. See all nine boxes in Georgetown, Acton, and Glen Williams on a self-guided tour, hear from the artists in a virtual artist talk, and get creative on social media by wrapping and unwrapping unlikely objects. Visit haltonhills.ca/UnderWraps for more details.
Don’t miss activities offered by recipients of the Town’s “The Artist Next Door” funding, including Chantal Garneau, David Busuttil, Dean Veneruz, E. Connie Munson, Georgetown Little Theatre, Glazed Expressions, Neil Cotton, and the Shepherds. Activities range from a series of theatrical ‘haunted’ workshops just in time for Halloween, to a guided mediative walk through the fall foliage at Hungry Hollow, and a digital recording of jazz, live from Dominion Gardens.
Culture Days is a national event that occurs annually. All activities are free or by-donation. Some activities require registration and/or proof of vaccination. Details are available on the Culture Days website and are listed in the description of individual events.
