HALTON HILLS, ON – Learn about electric vehicles (EV) and local charging stations at a free event on Saturday, September 18, in the parking lot of Mold-Masters SportsPlex, 221 Guelph Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entitled an ‘EV Extravaganza’, the rain or shine initiative is a collaboration amongst the Town, Plug’n Drive, Halton Hills Hydro and SouthWestern Energy. The event promises to provide residents everything they need to know about owning and operating an electric vehicle with EV displays, free test drives (with a valid driver’s licence) and information booths.
“With around 49 per cent of local greenhouse gas emissions coming from transportation, the EV event is a great way to learn how electric vehicles can help achieve our goal of becoming a carbon-neutral community,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.

Residents will also be interested to know that the local EV network has expanded! A partnership between the municipality and Ivy Charging Network saw the installation of six new EV chargers in Halton Hills. “We know we need the infrastructure in place to change behaviours and encourage the purchase of electric-powered vehicles, so I am very pleased to advise that we now have 26 EV chargers available to the public,” said the Mayor.
The Ivy Charging Network Level 2 EV charging locations include: Dominion Gardens, Georgetown Fairgrounds, the Robert C. Austin Operations Centre, Halton Hills Headquarters Fire Station, the Edith Street parking lot and the Willow Street parking lot.
