Proof of Vaccination No Longer Required as of March 1

HALTON HILLS, ON – As Ontario moves into the next phase of its re-opening plans, visitors to Halton Hills’ municipal facilities will no longer have to show proof of vaccination beginning Tuesday, March 1.

“The Town follows the direction of the Province and the Medical Officer of Health,” said Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette. “We will also employ other tactics that support the health and well-being of residents and staff such as taking a graduated approach to increasing capacity limits and reopening services and facilities.”

Residents are reminded that other public health measures such as screening and physical distancing are still required. As well, masks must be worn indoors except when actively participating in a recreation program.

The proof of vaccination requirement (QR code) for recreation facilities and businesses ends March 1, however new public health orders in Halton Region could still come into effect after this date if determined by the Medical Officer of Health.  

The easing of restrictions prompted the Mayor to repeat a message he had issued previously; “I recognize how unsettling the past two years have been for all of us, as we have had to adjust to living in a pandemic,” he said. However, stress is not an excuse for poor behaviour and I would ask members of the public to be kind and respectful to one another and staff.”

As the municipality navigates the next phase of the provincial reopening plan through the current uncertain and stressful time, residents are asked to please note that the Town will not tolerate any form of harassment, inappropriate and/or abusive conduct towards any staff or volunteer, whether in person, online or over the phone.
