HALTON HILLS, ON – Premier Gateway, Halton Hills’ main employment area along the Steeles Avenue corridor, continues to experience a surge of investment. New businesses are establishing in the area while others are expanding their operations, adding to the total existing building space in the Gateway of about 5 million square feet. Advantages of the Premier Gateway include a strategic location, easy access to major transportation networks and proximity to key markets.
“We have actively worked to attract investment to the Premier Gateway,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “What you are seeing now is the fruits of our labour. New investment means more jobs and increased assessment growth which supports the economic prosperity of our community.
Kraft Heinz, which began operations in Halton Hills in January of this year, continues to scale up its operations in a state-of-the-art distribution facility that measures over 500,000 square feet. Currently, the facility has about 105 jobs, and more will be added when the refrigerator addition is completed in 2019.
Strong market demand has also led to the leasing of 57 per cent (324,000 sq.ft.) of the 564,000 sq.ft. at 6 Cleve Court, a Triovest managed building. This will be the newest location of a major multinational logistics company, creating approximately 40 new jobs. The new tenant is anticipated to be in operation by October.
The Toronto Premium Outlets (TPO), a major regional shopping and tourism attraction that sees several million visitors annually, is nearing completion of a 150,000 square foot expansion. The expansion will add new retail and dining options to one of the top-performing retail centres in the GTA and create hundreds of new jobs. Earlier this year, TPO completed a 5-storey parking garage with 1600 parking spaces, providing visitors with a free and convenient parking option.
A recent Real Estate Market Research study published by Devencor noted that competition for space in the traditional GTA market has led more businesses to expand into other markets – good news for Halton Hills and its Premier Gateway.
