The Inspirations Art Program was created to provide a space for people with disabilities to create and engage with art in an inclusive environment. By establishing a creative and stimulating environment, we provide participants the opportunity to share, explore, have fun, and feel pride in themselves.
The program begins with a tour of the Helson Gallery where participants are encouraged to express their personal responses and engage in a dialogue about the artwork currently on exhibition. Afterwards, in the Cultural Centre Studio, they are given a basic watercolour lesson. Participants can enjoy the relaxing experience of experimenting with colour as pigments are applied and flow over one another. While emphasis is on the creative process, the completed piece also instills a sense of accomplishment.
The Inspirations Art Program is designed to promote social and therapeutic wellness while using art as a means of communication and confidence building. By exploring art in a supportive and relaxed environment, this program addresses and removes barriers that often prevent people from participating in the arts. All are welcome to join in this fun and meaningful creative experience.
Class sizes for the Inspirations Art Program are small (6 to 12 participants) in order to ensure a safe environment and maximize the level of personal attention. The program runs for approximately 1 hour in total with a flat fee of $75 for up to 12 participants.
If your group is looking for an outing and ready to engage in a creative in-person program, please contact the Helson Gallery to book the Inspirations Program.
