HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town is gearing up for another unforgettable Earth Week and everyone’s invited! From April 18 to 25, 2026, residents can dive into a full week of activities that celebrate the outdoors, spark eco‑friendly habits, and showcase how small actions can make a big impact.
“There are many ways residents can take action to support a healthy environment. Please pitch in to benefit us today and for generations to come,” says Mayor Lawlor. “Whether you participate in the 22-Minute Makeover, Community Cleanup, plant a tree, or choose to walk or ride your bike instead of driving, each of your actions makes a positive difference.”
This year’s theme shines a spotlight on strengthening our natural assets, supporting local biodiversity, and building a community that’s resilient, vibrant, and low‑carbon. With the help of fantastic local businesses and conservation partners, the Town is rolling out an exciting mix of indoor and outdoor events for all ages whether you’re a seasoned nature lover or simply curious to get involved.
Highlights of Earth Week include:
And so much more!
Town residents are invited to take part in two environmentally focused community events on April 25. As part of the Town’s Compost/Mulch Giveaway, residents can pick up free compost and mulch provided through a partnership between the Region of Halton and the Town of Halton Hills. The program supports local gardening and broader sustainability efforts. Residents are encouraged to bring their own containers to collect materials during the event.
On the same day, the Town will also host its Annual Used Bike Swap, offering an opportunity to donate or purchase quality used bikes, trikes, and cycling equipment. This initiative promotes sustainable transportation by giving pre‑loved bikes a new home while supporting the community. Donations and purchases will take place at the northwest corner of the Gellert Community Centre parking lot, near the Hey Ray storage container, with all proceeds going to local food banks.
