HALTON HILLS, ON. – Mayor Ann Lawlor, members of Town Council, and representatives from Georgetown Slopitch gathered on Thursday to officially open a new multi-purpose building at Trafalgar Sports Park.
The building’s design was developed in collaboration with user groups through a public consultation process and made possible in part by a $60,000 donation from the Georgetown Slopitch League.
“I’m delighted that we were able to see this project completed with the generous support of our local slopitch league,” said Mayor Ann Lawlor. “This beautiful and functional new amenity will support not only our local activities but ensure we are well positioned to be good hosts when attracting tournament play and other events to our community.”
This $1.3 million construction project highlights the Town’s ongoing efforts to prioritize local growth and development. The facility is designed to support a wide range of community programming, including tournaments, special events, and recreational activities held at the park. Visitors can look forward to enjoying the new space next season when the park re-opens to the public in April.
Constructed with durable and sustainable materials, the facility features glulam beams, concrete block walls, and a standing seam metal roof. The building incorporates conservation-minded design features including energy-efficient LED lighting, low-flow fixtures with motion sensors, and strategically positioned windows to optimize natural light and airflow.
The building includes a variety of modern spaces, such as a fully accessible, barrier-free universal washroom, a multi-purpose meeting room, a kitchenette, and a partially covered concrete patio with picnic tables.
Mayor Ann Lawlor, Council members and GSL executives cut the ribbon at the official opening of the Trafalgar Sports Park multi-use building.
