HALTON HILLS, ON – Tuesday saw a gathering of friends, family, and members of Council to announce the official opening of the Halton Hills Drive Parkette, a one-of-a-kind green space that seamlessly blends natural beauty, modern play features, and a respectful tribute to local history. Halton Hills Drive Parkette, located at 61 Halton Hills Drive in Georgetown, will offer the public a space to meet and be active.
With a total project investment of approximately $400,000, the 1.12-acre parkette is a forward-thinking addition to the Town’s growing park system. It stands out as a unique park in Halton Hills, integrating a historical cemetery into its design, offering both recreational opportunities and a place of quiet reflection.
“This park is a wonderful example of thoughtful planning that reflects the values of our community,” said Mayor Lawlor. “It encourages outdoor activity, protects natural features, and respects the historical significance of the site. It’s a place for everyone.”
Residents are encouraged to drop by and enjoy the parkette amenities which include a playground, a range of seating options for people to lounge and socialize, and native plants.
The Town of Halton Hills, with a population of approximately 64,000, consists of two urban centres, Georgetown and Acton, the Halton Hills Premier Gateway employment area, three hamlets – Glen Williams, Stewarttown and Norval – and several smaller settlements. Halton Hills has long been recognized for its natural beauty, active agricultural community, high quality of life and proximity to major centres, including Brampton, Mississauga and Toronto. The Town is ranked as one of the top small communities in Canada by a national magazine.
