HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town of Halton Hills has launched Greener Homes Halton Hills, a new initiative to help residents make their homes more comfortable, energy-efficient and climate-friendly, while saving on energy bills!
The Town is collaborating with Windfall Ecology Centre to provide free and impartial home energy coaching services via phone or video, as well as free access to the Virtual Home Energy Assessment Tool (vHEAT). These services will help residents to:
The initiative is designed for residents living in low-rise homes such as detached, semi-detached, townhouses, and multi-units up to 3-stories, available only for residential properties within the Town of Halton Hills. Those living in larger residential buildings can still receive guidance on how to reduce energy use.
“This project will help residents save money on energy bills, access rebates and take the guesswork out of which retrofits are best suited to their homes,” said Mayor Ann Lawlor. “By taking action, residents will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to improved climate resiliency, supporting an energy-efficient Halton Hills.”
Actions can include installing a heat pump, solar panels, or high efficiency water heater to upgrading insulation or windows. There are also low-cost options that can be considered such as smart thermostats, sealing drafty windows, or changing energy use habits.
More information about this initiative is on the Town’s website at haltonhills.ca/greenerhomeshaltonhills or go directly to Greener Homes Halton Hills to try the virtual home energy assessment, and book your free energy coach.
