Commissioner of Oaths & Declarations

The Town of Halton Hills provides a Commissioner of Oaths service for administering oaths or declarations when you need to swear or affirm that what is in a document is true. Documents may include, affidavits, vehicle ownership transfers, travel letters, name change forms or pension documents. The Town of Halton Hills does not have a Notary Public.

Availability

This service is provided in Town Hall located at 1 Halton Hills Drive, Halton Hills at the Service Halton Hills counter. Commissioning Services are available Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No appointment is required.


Fees

The fee is $30.00 (taxes included), payable by cash, debit, Mastercard or Visa. Commissioning of more than three documents will be subject to extra charges.


Requirements and Identification

Any person that is signing the document must be present and appear before the Commissioner with original government-issued identification that includes a photo and signature (i.e. driver's licence, provincial photo card, or passport). Please have your document completed and filled out, but do not sign the document prior to arriving at Town Hall, as you are required to sign in front of the Commissioner of Oaths. 

The signing of any document is at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of Oaths and the service may be refused if the document or identification provided do not meet the requirements.
