Skating is a fun and engaging activity that promotes balance, coordination, and overall physical fitness for people of all ages. Whether you're learning the basics, enjoying recreational skating, or staying active with family and friends, skating is a great way to build confidence, develop skills, and connect with your community.

Recreational Skating

Traditional ice programs are offered primarily in the fall and winter season, with the exception of Mold-Masters SportsPlex arena in Georgetown that offers year-round ice. Popular programs include public and family skating, shinny, stick and puck, youth skates and more.

Skating Programs

For persons 18 years of age and older. Hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted. Figure skating and hockey skill development activities are not permitted.

CSA-approved helmets with securely fastened chin straps are strongly recommended.

This program is intended for recreational skating and provides adults with an opportunity to skate in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. 

For youth of all ages who wish to develop their hockey skills while accompanied by an adult on the ice. The maximum participant ratio is 2 youth to 1 parent/guardian. Parents/guardians must be 18 years of age or older and must always remain on the ice. Adults may only participate when accompanying a youth participant. Two nets will be provided.

  • Body contact, game play, slap shots, scrimmages, and practice aids (e.g., pylons) are not permitted. 
  • Full hockey equipment is strongly recommended for participants under 18 years of age.
  • CSA-approved helmets and hockey gloves are mandatory for all participants.
  • All participants, including goaltenders, are subject to the applicable admission fee.

This program is intended for skill development only. Shinny hockey is not permitted. Please attend one of our Shinny Hockey programs offered at other times and locations. 

Open to all ages. Children must be accompanied on the ice by a parent or guardian who is 18 years of age or older.

A maximum of five participants, including one adult, is permitted per group.  Parents/guardians attending on the ice must be accompanied by youth. Skate aids are available for use at no charge at the arena, or participants may bring their own. Strollers are permitted on the ice provided the wheels have been cleaned prior to use.

This program provides a recreational skating opportunity for individuals and families of all skill levels.

For experienced figure skaters. Admission is required for all participants, including coaches.

This session is intended for figure skating practice and skill development. Participants should be able to skate independently and safely navigate a shared ice surface while respecting other skaters. 

For children under 6 years of age who are accompanied by an adult on the ice. Children must wear a helmet while participating. Hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted.

Skate aids are available for use at no charge at the arena, or participants may bring their own. Strollers are permitted on the ice provided the wheels have been cleaned prior to use. 

Open to all ages.

Skate aids and strollers are not permitted during the regular ice season. Participants wishing to use a skate aid during the fall and winter seasons should attend a Family Skate or Parent & Tot Skate session instead.

For adults 50 years of age and older. Full hockey equipment, including a CSA-approved helmet, must be always worn. Body contact, rough play, and aggressive conduct are not permitted.

Participants are responsible for organizing their own game and ensuring play remains safe and respectful for all participants.

This program provides an opportunity for older adults to enjoy recreational hockey in a safe, non-contact environment. 

For adults 18 years of age and older. Full hockey equipment, including a CSA-approved helmet, must be always worn. Body contact, rough play, and aggressive conduct are not permitted.

Participants are responsible for organizing their own game and ensuring play remains safe and respectful for all participants.

This program provides an opportunity for adults to enjoy recreational hockey in a safe, non-contact environment. 

For children under 6 years of age who are accompanied by an adult on the ice. This program focuses on fun, participation, and the development of basic hockey skills.

For children, full hockey equipment is mandatory, including a CSA-approved hockey helmet with a face mask. For adults, a CSA-approved helmet is mandatory, while all other equipment is optional.

Adults are not permitted to shoot the puck or raise it off the ice in a manner that may endanger other participants.

This program provides a safe and supportive environment for young children to build confidence and develop hockey skills with the assistance of an adult. 

Enjoy a fun game of shinny hockey with players divided into teams based on skill level. Body contact, rough play, and slap shots are not permitted.

A parent or guardian must be 18 years of age or older and must remain in the program area while participating youth are on the ice. Goalies are welcome.

Full protective hockey equipment is mandatory for all participants and must be always worn, including a CSA-approved hockey helmet.

Games are organized by participants. Players are expected to demonstrate respect, sportsmanship, and consideration for others to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all 

Work on puck control and skating skills in a non-game environment. Shooting the puck is not permitted, except as part of passing drills. Hockey nets will not be provided.

The maximum ratio of instructor, coach, or parent to child is 1:2. Parents/guardians must be 18 years of age or older and must remain in the program area. Parents/guardians participating on the ice must be accompanied by a child.

Full protective hockey equipment is strongly recommended for all participants and should be always worn. CSA-approved helmets and hockey gloves are mandatory for all participants.

Body contact, rough play, game play, and scrimmages are not permitted. Goalies are not permitted.

This program is intended for individual skill development only and provides participants with an opportunity to improve skating, puck control, and passing skills in a safe and controlled environment. 

Work on puck control and skating drills. Hockey nets are NOT provided. Helmets are mandatory. Shooting of the puck is not allowed other than for passing drills. Goalies are not permitted

Work on puck control and skating skills in a family-oriented environment. Shooting the puck is not permitted, except as part of passing drills.

Hockey nets will not be provided.

The maximum ratio of instructor, coach, or parent to child is 1:2. A parent or guardian must be 18 years of age or older, must be on the ice, and must be accompanied by a youth participant.

Free Youth Skate – No Admission Fee! Open to youth ages 12 to 24.

Skate aids and strollers are not permitted.

During the fall and winter season, youth can enjoy free skating at Mold-Masters Sportsplex or Acton Arena.

Before You Skate:

  1. Visit the Youth Centre to obtain your free skate pass before going on the ice.
  1. Rink staff will check for a valid skate pass prior to entry. No pass, no skate.
  1. This program is offered during theFall and Winter season only.

This program provides youth with a free opportunity to stay active, have fun, and enjoy recreational skating in a safe and welcoming environment. 


Skating Fees

Public, Adult, Family Skating

  • Child/Youth: $2.50 (17 years of age and under)

  • Adult: $4.00

  • Group: $9.50 (Maximum of 5 persons, must include one adult 18+ years, maximum 2 adults)

Shinny, Stick & Puck, Figure Skating Pick-Up, Family Power Play

  • Per Person: $7.50 (prime time $11.00). All coaches & instructors must also pay admission.
  • Parent & Tot: Adult $4.00, child $2.50

Ball Hockey, Inline skating and Inline Shinny:

  • Child/Youth: $2.50
  • Adult: $4.00
  • Group: $9.50 (Maximum of 5 persons and must include one adult 18+ years, maximum 2 adults)

Pickleball

  • Per person: $5.00

Arena Floor Programs

In the off season (Spring & Summer), our arenas will remove portions of ice to allow floor programs to take place on the concrete floors. Some popular programs include inline skating, inline shinny, ball hockey and indoor pickleball.

Play a fun pick-up game of ball hockey shinny by dividing players equally based on skill level.

  • Body contact, rough play and slap shots are NOT permitted.
  • Game is organized by participants.
  • Parent/guardian must be 18 years of age or older and must remain in program area if not accompanying youth on the floor.
  • Goalies are permitted.
  • Elbow, shoulder and shin pads are required to be worn at all times by participants including a CSA approved helmet.
  • Parent/guardian on floor monitoring the activity must wear approved CSA helmet.
  • Adults on floor are not to participate but are to monitor.

Play a fun pick-up game of shinny by dividing players equally based on skill level.

  • Parent/guardian must be 18 years of age or older and must remain in program area if not accompanying youth on the floor.
  • Goalies are permitted.

Join in the fun or learn a new skill! Enjoy a low impact workout on a clean, smooth surface in our climate controlled arena - perfect for year-round inline skating.

  • No sticks or balls allowed. Open to all ages.
  • Helmets and wrist guards recommended. 

A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. For adults 18 yrs or over. Beginners welcome! Please bring your own paddle and water bottle with you (glass prohibited). 

Limited paddles are available to borrow. Regular players are encouraged to purchase and bring their own equipment.

Live Streaming at Arenas

Town of Halton Hills arenas have a live streaming feature from Live Barn. For more information, visit livebarn.com. LiveBarn is a paid subscription service that allows you to watch events Live or On Demand for 30 days. Your subscription allows you to watch streams from any LiveBarn-installed venue across the United States and Canada.

When are events filmed?

The video streaming service is only available for sports organizations that did not choose to opt-out of streaming during their dedicated rental times. The video streaming service will be disabled during public drop-in use of the arenas for programs like parent and child skate, public skating, adult shinny etc.

Sports organizations

Sports organizations were invited to opt-out of the service if they did not wish for their games and practices to be streamed live or available on-demand through LiveBarn. If you have a question about opting out of online streaming, please contact your sports organization.

Outdoor rinks

Outdoor rinks are closed for the season. Please check back for more information in January, 2027. 

Weather permitting, Town staff will construct and maintain natural outdoor ice rinks during the winter season. Locations maintained by the Town of Halton Hills are intended as the primary locations to enjoy recreational outdoor skating during the winter season, but smaller rinks maintained by volunteers may also be available.
