HHLC introduces young swimmers to ‘lifesaving sport’. They will improve stroke technique and endurance while incorporating increasingly complex aquatic skills. HHLC also promotes a healthy attitude towards competition – swimmers focus on achieving personal best times and improving their technique in a supportive, positive environment.
HHLC format and progress
First time HHLC swimmers should register in Beginner. In order to participate, swimmers must have completed Swimmer 3 and be comfortable in deep water. After Beginner, swimmers will progress through Intermediate, Advanced, and Development based on Coach recommendations reflected on progress reports.

How to register for Halton Hills Lifeguard Club
To register online, log into your online registration account and complete your transaction using a credit card. Please note that fees and registration times are different for non-residents of Halton Hills.
For those with limited computer access, we are happy to assist you by phone at 905-873-2600, ext. 2275. Staff are available 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday to help answer any questions you may have about program selection and registration.

HHLC Programs
1 - HHLC Beginner
Pre-requisite: Complete Swimmer 3, can swim 25m easily and comfortable in deep water, age 7-15 years.
This program offers participants ages 7-15 years an introduction to lifesaving sport skills while building on their swimming skills. In addition to swimming, this program promotes healthy lifestyles, teaches team building, fair play ethics in sport, and athlete responsibility. Athletes progress at their own pace through the Lifesaving Sport Fundamentals level 1 of this program.
2 - HHLC Intermediate
Pre-requisite: Participation in the HHLC Beginner program.
Participants focus on improving their lifesaving sport techniques, strength, endurance and speed. Athletes will increase their overall fitness and will improve skills needed to pursue advanced lifesaving qualifications. Athletes progress at their own pace through the Lifesaving Fundamentals levels 2-3 in this program.
3 - HHLC Advanced
Pre-requisite: Participation in the HHLC Intermediate program.
This program offers participants ages 7-16 years a continuation of the HHLC Lifesaving Sport Intermediate level and introduces the concepts for lifelong training for health and fitness. In this program the athletes will continue to focus on having fun and will continue to learn new lifesaving sport skills. This program introduces long-term goal setting with respect to performance and staying healthy. It also introduces relay transitions from the starting bock, stroke refinement and longer workout sets in preparation for the Development program. Athletes progress at their own pace through the Lifesaving Sport Fundamentals levels 4 and 5 in this program.
4 - HHLC Development
Pre-requisite: Participation in the HHLC Advanced Program, minimum 12 years of age.
Athletes review lifesaving sport techniques and are introduced to more advanced skills. Athletes refine their strokes and improve their overall fitness and stamina through challenging workouts.

No Practice: Wednesday, August 5 and Wednesday, August 12. The pool is closed for facility maintenance.
