The Planning Policy Section is primarily responsible for the creation and management of the Town’s long-term plans and studies, including the Official Plan, Secondary Plans, the Zoning By-law and other growth management studies. This team is also responsible for the review and consideration of proposed changes to legislation by other levels of government on behalf of the Town; monitoring growth and providing planning data and GIS based mapping.
Visionary Land Use Plans: Building a Complete Community
Developing long-range and other land use plans/strategies which are in keeping with the planning principles of "complete communities" and consistent with the Town's vision, Town Strategic Plan, and approved directions of Council.
Planning Analysis Informing Sound Planning Policy
Conducting planning studies and develop and maintain planning information databases to inform and evaluate long-range and other land use plans/strategies
Advancing Town Objectives in Regional & Provincial Planning
Participating in Provincial, Regional and other broader planning initiatives to advance Town planning objectives
Innovative and Meaningful Community Engagement
Providing innovative opportunities for meaningful community engagement
