A Candidate Information Session was held on April 21st for individuals who are considering running for the role of Mayor, Regional Chair, Local or Regional Councillor in any of the Halton Region municipalities this October. The session provided an overview of the roles and responsibilities of regional and municipal council members including duties, scope, and commitments. Speakers for this event included John Mascarin, Aird & Berlis; and Kelly Linton, Linton Consulting.
The Town of Halton Hills' Use of Corporate Resources during an Election Year Policy (PLCY-2026-001) is a policy to ensure compliance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 by clarifying for candidates, current members of Council and Town staff the legislative requirements relating to campaign finances.

Candidates who have questions about Town services and/or operations for campaign purposes that are not on the Town’s website can email the Clerks Department with a Request for Information. This process is in place to eliminate duplication, maximize efficient use of staff resources, and ensure that all candidates or potential candidates have access to the same information.
Election signs for the 2026 Municipal Election may be placed starting on September 11, 2026 (45 days prior to the election).
You must submit the Election Sign Permit Application prior to placing any signs. The cost of the permit is $100.00, which can be paid by cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard or certified cheque at the Service Halton Hills counter at Town Hall on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The Town of Halton Hills' Election Sign By-Law No. 2021-0064 is a by-law to manage and regulate election signs in the Town of Halton Hills. The registered third party, or the candidate, to whom an election sign relates, shall be responsible for the erection and display of the election sign and shall ensure that all of the requirements of this by-law are met.
