Premier Gateway Employment Area Secondary Plans

Historical Context

Overview

The Halton Hills Premier Gateway Employment Area is the Town’s prestige employment area where large-scale employment growth is to be directed. It is the “gateway” to the Town, extending north from the 401, planned to accommodate new office, warehousing, manufacturing, and commercial development.

The original planning phases for the area began in 2000 between Highway 401 and Steeles Avenue. Since that time the area has expanded into second and third phases between Sixth Line and Winston Churchill Boulevard.

Brownridge Premier Gateway Phase 3 West Secondary Plan

The Brownridge Premier Gateway Phase 3 West Secondary Plan covers an area of approximately 272 hectares from Sixth Line to Eighth Line, north of the existing Premier Gateway Phase 1B. This project marks the beginning of long-term planning for the most recent expansion of the Premier Gateway Employment Area, through Halton Region Official Plan Amendment 49.

As required by the Town’s Official Plan, the Brownridge Premier Gateway Phase 3 West Secondary Plan will include multiple background studies to better understand development opportunities and constraints in the area. A key focus of this project will be to determine an appropriate land use plan for the employment lands, under the guidance of the Provincial Planning Statement.

A Scoped Subwatershed Study will also be completed to confirm the extent of the Natural Heritage System within the Secondary Plan area. This study will serve as the basis for the protection of natural heritage resources within the expanded Premier Gateway.
