Zoning By‑law

The Town of Halton Hills Zoning By‑law establishes regulations for all properties within the municipality by:

  • Identifies zoning categories and permitted uses

  • Sets development standards by zone

  • Includes site‑specific exceptions where applicable

  • Is amended from time to time by Council

Some properties may be subject to special provisions or historic approvals that affect permitted uses.

A Housekeeping Amendment was presented to the Public by way of report number PD-2023-057 through a Statutory Public Meeting on October 10, 2023. No comments were received, and therefore, the by-law was signed by the commissioner through his delegated authority on November 20, 2023.

The purpose and effect of this By-law is to remove Zoning By-law 00-138, being the Premier Gateway Zoning By-law, as amended, from the old Georgetown Zoning By-law 57-91, and add By-law 00-138, as amended, as a standalone section into the Comprehensive Zoning By-law 2010-0050.

In addition to accessing this by-law and its schedules above, the By-law Portal below can be used to access any Zoning By-law amendments that have occurred between 2021 and the present.

Zoning, Building Permits & Other Approvals

Zoning review is often the first step in the development process.

  • Zoning compliance does not replace a building permit

  • Additional approvals may be required from other agencies

  • Construction or changes of use without approvals may result in enforcement action
