Adoption of Official Plan Amendment No. 37
On September 9, 2019, Council for the Town of Halton Hills adopted by by-law, Official Plan Amendment No. 37 regarding the Downtown Georgetown Secondary Plan, known as “Destination Downtown”.
As is required by the Planning Act, the Official Plan Amendment is now before the Region of Halton for consideration and approval. The technical/supportive studies, which were considered and used in preparation of the Official Plan Amendment and related Secondary Plan are available in the ‘Background Reports & Project Documents' tab below.
Destination Downtown, a study to develop a vision and new planning framework for Downtown Georgetown is underway. The conclusion of the study will result in a Secondary Plan for Downtown Georgetown, which will guide development over the next 20 years with respect to land use, building height, density, and urban design.
The Downtown Planning Study will be undertaken in six phases. Each phase of the study includes opportunities for you to participate. Phase 6, which involves preparation of a draft Secondary Plan and Urban Design Guidelines, a Public Open House/Statutory Public Meeting, and finalization of the Secondary Plan and Urban Design Guidelines for Council’s consideration, is underway. The Public Open House/Public Meeting is scheduled for May 6, 2019.
