Acton Downtown/Major Transit Station Area Secondary Plan: Notice of Study Commencement

Study Purpose and Area

The Town of Halton Hills is initiating the Acton Downtown/Major Transit Station Area Secondary Plan. The Downtown/Major Transit Area has an area of approximately 52.3 hectares (129 acres) and is located along Mill Street East and West (Highway 7), between Eastern Avenue and Park Avenue, south of Bower Street. The Study Area is illustrated in the map below.

The Regional Official Plan, now a local plan, identifies the Acton Go Major Transit Station Area (MTSA) to be planned in accordance with a density target (people and jobs per hectare) to be established as part of the project. Long-term planning for the area is to have a transit-oriented focus, seeking opportunities for both residential and employment intensification.

As is required by the Town’s Official Plan, the Acton Downtown/Major Transit Station Area Secondary Plan will include the completion of multiple background studies to better understand the opportunities and constraints to development in the area. The purpose of the Secondary Plan is to review and update existing land use designations and where needed, create new ones to help meet Provincial policy requirements for MTSAs.
