Facility Operator - Contract (202641)

Under the supervision of the Facility Supervisor, the successful applicants will perform maintenance and other facility operational duties as required in the safe operation and effective delivery of services pertaining to the arena, community centre and assigned facilities.

Accountabilities:

• Responsible for the delivery of services including the safe and efficient operation of the arena/community centre facilities and equipment
• Inspect and monitor ice surface and ice conditions, rink boards, rink glass and spectator safety netting and other rink components
• Perform ice maintenance and ice installation
• Perform detailed caretaking and maintenance functions of assigned facilities including minor building, mechanical and equipment repairs
• Perform work related to set-up, dismantling and clean-up of facility for permitted functions/activities
• Ensure a safe environment for public and staff by following prescribed procedures
• Provide direction to part-time staff and assigned volunteers
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• O.R.F.A Basic Refrigeration required
• TSSA Refrigeration Operator Class “B” Certification will be considered as an asset
• Current First Aid/C.P.R. and AED certification
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License Class G
• O.R.F.A. Certified Ice Technician designation will be considered as an asset
• Experience in operating an ice resurfacer & edger, along with various power/hand tools
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work at heights and lift heavy equipment/furniture
• Exceptional customer service skills, tact, and initiative
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills to operate Microsoft Office applications
• Willingness to work shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends
• Skills and knowledge in carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical disciplines
• Previous experience in a similar position preferred
