HALTON HILLS, ON – Big changes are coming to the ActiVan Specialized Transit Program as the Town of Halton Hills works to improve the service to better serve riders. As part of the 2021 Specialized Transit Plan, the Town identified short, medium and long-term opportunities to address accessibility gaps and remove barriers by making the service easier and more convenient for users.
Riders can expect the following changes:
“The ActiVan Specialized Transit Program is an essential service for many of our residents,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “Improving accessibility to our services by removing barriers is an important step towards equity that ensures all our residents can get to where they need to go. I’m pleased the Town has been able to advance improvements in the ActiVan service so we can better serve our community.”
These changes come a little over a year after increasing the age of eligibility for the Youth Taxi Scrip Program to support more Halton Hills youth. In September of 2020, the age limit for the Youth Taxi Scrip Program changed from 19 to 24 years.
