Mayor’s Christmas Message: ‘Please stay home!’

Halton Hills, ON – With almost two weeks until Christmas – traditionally a time of festive gathering, Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette is urging people to stay home.  “I am asking residents to continue to take precautions against the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” he said.  “This means, limiting in-person get-togethers and not going out to visit friends and family; however, per the direction of the Province, people living alone can spend the holidays with one other household.”

Residents are encouraged to stay connected while staying apart through the use of technology. Chatting via video conferencing or hosting a virtual gathering are some of the ways that family members are staying in touch. “I know people that are setting their tables with a computer monitor so they can enjoy the company of their family in a safe and meaningful way this holiday season,” said the Mayor.

Keeping the local community informed and supporting local businesses continues to be among the Town’s top priorities. According to the Mayor, “Many local restaurants are offering take out and the holiday season is a great time to support these businesses. Why not order in and try something new; this means less work and more time to spend – even remotely – with those you love. That’s my pandemic lesson.”
