Halton Hills, ON - The Town is hosting a virtual Affordable Housing Open House on March 4 at 6:30 p.m. as part of its Affordable Housing Awareness and Engagement strategy.
Mayor Bonnette, Town staff and members from the Affordable Housing Working Group will be on hand to talk about what affordable housing means to Halton Hills. Topics include local affordable housing initiatives and the benefits of accessory dwelling units in today’s housing market.
Residents, business and property owners are invited to visit Let’s Talk Halton Hills to pre-register for the Open House, access background information and provide ideas and testimonials that will help inform the future direction of affordable housing initiatives in the Town.
“This is an opportunity for people to help shape growth in our community,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “Affordable housing is a focus area in the Town’s Strategic Plan and Council understands the importance of having housing that meets the needs of all residents in Halton Hills.”
Recognizing the importance of providing current and future residents with an adequate supply and range of housing choices, the Affordable Housing Engagement and Awareness Strategy will identify local housing issues through community dialogue.
According to Councillor Jon Hurst, Chair of the Affordable Housing Working Group, “Providing an adequate supply and range of affordable housing choices to meet the needs of present and future residents is an important goal for the working group. We want to hear from residents because community input is key to building an innovative model for new development in Halton Hills.”
