HALTON HILLS, ON – Improving safety and adopting new technologies are the hallmarks of the new Community Connect Program recently launched by the Halton Hills Fire Department.
Community Connect is a secure, easy-to-use platform that allows residents and business owners to share critical information about their household, helping emergency service personnel respond more efficiently and effectively, resulting in better incident outcomes.
“It’s tremendously beneficial for our firefighters to know the make up of a household such as family members with special needs,” said Assistant Deputy Chief Rob Quinton. “I encourage residents to register for the site and input their information.”
Community Connect is a secure, registration-based system that allows residents to enter information about their household. In the event of an emergency, the information becomes available to first responders at the time of dispatch. The program is voluntary, and residents can decide what information they are comfortable sharing.
Data provided to Community Connect is 100 per cent secure and is used solely for the purpose of better serving residents during emergency situations.
“Community Connect is a great resource for our residents,” said Mayor Lawlor, adding “I’m pleased with this new addition to the fire program that further supports the Town’s efforts in being a safe, healthy and enviable place to live and work.”
People interested in registering on Community Connect can visit the Town’s website at haltonhills.ca. Residents can also stop in to either branch of the Halton Hills Public Library for further information and assistance with registration.
