HALTON HILLS, ON - Acton will be front and centre as the featured community in the CBC TV show Still Standing. Showcasing interviews with familiar faces and shots of familiar places, the Canadian-focused program will be filming in Acton May 18-23.
“When I heard that Acton was being considered as one the show’s featured communities, I knew this was an opportunity we couldn’t miss,” said Mayor Ann Lawlor. “I made it clear that we would support the program, and my persistence paid off!”
Still Standing features Newfoundland and Labrador actor and comedian Jonny Harris who will be familiar to fans of the Murdock Mysteries series. Each episode of Still Standing features a different Canadian municipality that has overcome adversity and includes interviews with Jonny and local characters who tell their stories. The program will air on CBC TV and CBC Gem this fall
The filming of each episode culminates in a stand-up comedy show. Residents are invited to attend the free show on Friday, May 23 at 7 p.m. at the Acton District School. Attendance is on a first come-first served basis.
