HALTON HILLS, ON – Residents wishing to discharge fireworks this Canada Day are reminded to adhere to COVID-19 health and safety protocols which include practicing physical distancing, wearing a face covering/mask and keeping gatherings to 10 people or less.
“I know that many families enjoy discharging fireworks so I am asking residents to be extra vigilant this year both in terms of abiding by our by-laws and the provincially-led-directives on COVID-19 to protect everyone’s health and safety,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.
“Statistics tell us that almost a third of fireworks-related injuries occur on or around Victoria Day and Canada Day,” said Fire Chief Jon Rehill. Adding, “And almost three-quarters of injuries required a visit to the hospital, so I would ask residents to please take extra care when handling fireworks this year!”
