HALTON HILLS, ON – Yesterday I joined over 20 other municipal Mayors and added my signature on correspondence to Premier Ford in support of keeping speed cameras. This approach to traffic safety is a proven method to change behaviour and reduce speed in our Town and others. School zones are the most common places where these automated speed enforcement cameras are placed and I feel the safety benefits far outweigh the perceived ‘cash grab’. That being said, our correspondence to the Premier included safeguards such as establishing reasonable thresholds for speed overages, time of use operations, large signage etc,
