    Community Sustainability Strategy

    'IMAGINE HALTON HILLS' Imagine Halton Hils

    In 50 years, Halton Hills will enjoy an even higher quality of life. That is, Halton Hills will be a thriving community characterized by:

    • Cultural Vibrancy;
    • Economic Prosperity;
    • Environmental Health; and
    • Social Wellbeing.

    To reach this future, through a close partnership between the Town and countless community stakeholders, an Integrated Community Sustainability Strategy has been completed.  This Strategy is named “Imagine Halton Hills”.  It is a ‘made in Halton Hills’ Strategy and has been endorsed by Town Council.  Imagine Halton Hills is a key document for the Town. The Town is an official community partner in its implementation. Imagine Halton Hills will position the Town as a sustainability leader by acting as a blueprint to integrate sustainability into its day-to-day decision making, plans, policies and other initiatives.

    Imagine Halton Hills centers on a long-term community vision to the year 2060. It envisions Halton Hills with a high quality of life through a long-term community vision which reads:

    “In 2060, the urban and rural communities of Halton Hills balance economic prosperity with a deep commitment to the natural environment, while retaining viable local agriculture and small-town feel, and being socially equitable, culturally vibrant and strongly connected.”

    This community vision is supported by individual visions for the four ‘pillars’ which are key to high quality of life: Cultural Vibrancy, Economic Prosperity, Environmental Health and Social Wellbeing. Each of these pillars is equally important and includes several focus areas, goals and indicators. The Strategy’s building blocks are:Community Sustainability Strategy

    • 1 overall community vision
    • 4 pillar visions
    • 32 focus areas
    • 10 community values
    • 167 goals
    • 27 indicators to measure progress
