    Please note that modifications and amendments will be made to this site as information becomes available.
    The 2015 Municipal By-Election will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015

    For the 2015 By-Election the Town of Halton Hills will again be offering Vote Anywhere Advance Voting Locations within Ward 1, which are accessible and will have accessible voting capabilities

    Tuesday, July 7 through Friday, August 7, 2015

    Nomination Period
    Nominations may be filed by candidates with the Clerk Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. excluding statutory holidays, commencing on Tuesday, July 7 to Thursday, August 6 2015.
    On Nomination Day (Friday, August 7, 2015), nominations may only be filed with the Clerk between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

    Thursday, July 7, 2015 to Thursday, November 5, 2015

    Campaign Period
    The campaign period begins on July 7, 2015 or when a candidate files his or her nomination paper, whichever is later, and ends on November 5, 2015 unless the candidate withdraws the nomination, the Clerk rejects the nomination or the candidate is continuing their campaign to erase a deficit.

    9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    Last day for filing nominations.

    Qualification for Municipal Office

    A candidate for municipal office must, upon nomination, be a qualified municipal elector and fulfill all of the following requirements: 

    • resides in the local municipality, or is the owner or tenant of land there or is the spouse of such owner or tenant;
    • is a Canadian citizen;
    • is at least 18 years old; and was 18 years of age during the regular municipal election
    • is not legally prohibited from voting; and
    • is not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
