Over 500 residents participated in the Community Clean-Up.
About 120 Town staff, many businesses and all schools in Halton Hills schools registered for the 22-Minute Makeover to help clean the community! Thank you to Superior Glove Works in Acton for donating clean-up gloves!
150 trees and shrubs were planted in Hungry Hollow by residents and Credit Valley Conservation to grow the local tree canopy.
The Halton Hills EcoFilm Fest hosted an uplifting film on alternative agriculture models for a better economy and healthy environment.
The Bird Friendly Symposium had residents and environmental groups totalling about 80 attendees, who gathered to learn about Nature Canada’s Bird Friendly City Designation and share the many great environmental stewardship actions being implemented here in Halton Hills.
For the second year, the Town launched the Tree Voucher Pilot Program. It supports expanding Halton Hills’ tree canopy by offering a $50 voucher on a tree valued at $60 or more, from Reds Garden Centre or Sheridan Nurseries in Georgetown. Tree vouchers are available until they run out or June 30th. Tree vouchers are available at the Acton Arena and Community Centre, Gellert Community Centre, and Mold-Masters SportsPlex Monday through Friday during regular business hours.The Halton Hills Bike Swap sold 60 bicycles and collected $2,000 for local food banks. This event recycles bicycles and keeps them out of the landfill. Visit the Bethel ReCYCLE event at Acton Bethal Church in Acton on May 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to pick up a free bicycle!
The free Compost and Woodchip Giveaway was held on April 27th at the Robert C. Austin Operations Centre. Donations were collected for local food banks, and residents picked up compost and woodchips to improve their garden’s health.
Friday April 26, 2024, the Town is launching the second year of a Tree Voucher Pilot Program. The program supports residents in planting more resilient, mature trees on their property, helping to more effectively increase the local tree canopy.
How do I get my voucher?
Visit the customer service desks at the Gellert Community Centre, Mold-Masters SportsPlex or the Acton Arena and Community Centre between April 26 and June 30, 2024. Vouchers will be given out during business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Provide proof of Halton Hills address, and receive your tree voucher. One voucher per Halton Hills address.
How do I use my voucher?
Visit Reds Garden Centre (Acton) or Sheridan Nurseries (Georgetown location only) with your tree voucher and select a tree of $60 or more
Provide your voucher to the cashier to receive $50 off your tree purchase
Voucher can only be used one time, in-person, by Halton Hills residents only, maximum number of vouchers available in 2024 is 300, pilot program runs from April 27 to June 30, 2024.
