Climate Change Adaptation Plan

From ice storms to heat waves and unseasonable temperatures, Halton Hills has experienced variable weather over the past few years which affected the lives of its residents. Town staff is developing a Climate Change Adaptation Plan to address the community's needs and concerns of climate change in Halton Hills. Learn more about the Plan.

Community Open House and Sustainability Fair

The Community Open House, and the Earth Day and Sustainability Fair are partnering on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Georgetown Market Place to host an event where community groups can showcase their work and interact with the public. To participate in this free event contact the Office of Sustainability.

Halton Hills EcoFilms

For the fifth year, Protect our Water and Environmental Resource (P.O.W.E.R.) will be hosting the Halton Hills EcoFilm Fest starting in January for the first five months of 2019. Each month, environmentally based films will be shown at the John Elliott Theatre as part of the festival. "Jane" (a documentary of Jane Goodall) will be featured on January 23, 2019, from 7 - 9 p.m. Ticket price is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Sharing Our Successes

In late 2018, Jennifer Spence, the Town's Sustainability Engagement Coordinator was invited to speak as a panelist at Durham Region's Smart Commute Durham Champion Workshop & Awards to share the successes of the Town participating in the Smart Commute Halton program. The event was attended by representatives from large businesses and municipalities who currently participate or are considering the Smart Commute program at their workplace. For more information about the Town's involvement at this event contact the Office of Sustainability.
