State of Economy Snapshot - Q4 - 2018

With its strategic location in the GTA, an 'open for business' approach, proximity to major markets and transportation networks, high quality of life, and a competitive business environment, the Halton Hills economy continues to grow. As reported in February through the State of Economy Snapshot (Q4 2018) report, strong demand for industrial development as well as the expansion of the Toronto Premium Outlets continue to demonstrate robust growth in the Premier Gateway. The Acton and Georgetown industrial areas continue to experience new investment. Record uptake of the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) program has made significant contributions to downtown Acton and Georgetown.

Careers in the Trades

VPI Working Solutions and Gary Allan High School are hosting a 'Community Careers in the Trades' event on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.at Gary Allan High School (96 Guelph St., Georgetown).  Local businesses can contact Misty Knight at VPI for more information on reserving a booth, conducting interviews and/or giving a presentation at the event.

CIP program

CIP Program - Grants for Property Improvements

The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is a program that supports the revitalization, redevelopment and renewal of key areas of Halton Hills with financial incentives. The CIP supports the retention and growth of business, job creation, downtown vitality, private sector investment and other spinoff benefits. 2019 funding is now available for projects such as facade improvements, industrial landscaping, conversion of underutilized spaces, environmental site assessments and more. Town Gets on Board with Community Better Challenge

Businesses can help Halton Hills become 'Canada's Most Active Community' later this spring by holding a simple physical activity at the workplace during ParticipACTION's 'Community Better Challenge'. Businesses can apply for a grant between $250 - $1000 to plan and promote physical activity during the Challenge.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport recently announced that it will be developing a new Tourism Strategy for Ontario and that consultations would help to inform the plan. Online consultations were launched on January 3, 2019, and will remain open until February 28, 2019.

Are you a Bike Friendly Business?

The Ontario By Bike (TM) Network is a FREE program that certifies and promotes bicycle friendly businesses across Ontario. The Network, which is open to all accommodations, food service providers, attractions, cycling-related businesses and organizations interested in cycle tourism, inspires visitors and residents to explore more by bike through a variety of initiatives. Bike-friendly businesses located in Halton Hills can register their locations and add a map listing.
