CIP Program - Grants for Property Improvements

The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is a program that supports the revitalization, redevelopment and renewal of key areas of Halton Hills with financial incentives. The CIP supports the retention and growth of business, job creation, downtown vitality, private sector investment and other spinoff benefits. 2019 funding is now available for projects such as facade improvements, industrial landscaping, conversion of underutilized spaces, environmental site assessments and more. Town staff are available to assist with the grant application process. Contact edo@haltonhills.ca to discuss eligibility.

Canadian Agricultural Partnership

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada delivers federal programs under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) aimed at generating economic growth in the agricultural sector. The CAP is a five-year, $3 billion investment by federal, provincial and territorial governments to strengthen the agriculture and agri-food sectors.

Small Business Marketing Seminar

Join the Halton Region Small Business Centre for a value-packed overview of marketing methodology and sales tactics for your small business. The seminar will be held at Acton Branch Library, 17 River St. on Wednesday, May 15 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

First Steps to Importing

The Halton Global Business Centre will hold a seminar on product-related regulations, suppliers and country of origin, financial aspects, logistics and other partners, customs documentation and clearance on Wednesday, June 12 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at 1151 Bronte Road.

Youth Entrepreneurship Programs

'Summer Company' is a program that provides students with training, mentoring and up to $3,000 in funding to launch and run a summer enterprise. 'Futurprenuer' is a program that provides eligible young entrepreneurs with financing of up to $15,000 to launch a year-round business. Info sessions and application deadlines are approaching.

Free Business Consultations at Halton Hills Public Library

Halton's Small Business Consultant Program offers FREE consultations on starting a business, marketing plans, business research and government regulations. Consultations take place at the Georgetown Branch Library on alternate Thursdays: April 25, May 9 & 23 and June 13, 2019. Call 905-825-6000 ext. 7900 to schedule a complimentary one-hour consultation.

Ontario Tourism Development Fund

Ontario's Tourism Development Fund provides non-capital, project-based funding to projects that support tourism investment, product development and industry capacity building. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and should be submitted a minimum of four months prior to the start of the project.

Tourism-Oriented Directional Signing (TODS) Program

Signs on Ontario's roadways make it easier for residents, visitors and tourists to find local accommodations, tourist attractions and services. To determine if your business is eligible for this program, contact Stephanie Mazhari, Manager of Entrepreneurship Services, at 905-825-6000, ext. 7229.

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) is currently accepting nominations for the Canadian Tourism Awards. The Awards recognize those people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer travellers superior tourism experiences in Canada. Nominations close on June 17, 2019.

Tourism Added to Federal Economic Strategy Models

On March 19 the Honourable Bill Morneau, Minister of Finance, tabled the 2019 federal budget which recognized tourism as Canada's seventh 'Economic Strategy Table'. This places the tourism industry, and its potential to lead economic growth, alongside other leading industry sectors such as advanced manufacturing, agri-food, clean technology, health/bio-sciences, etc.
