CIP Grants for Property Improvements

The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is a program that supports the revitalization, redevelopment and renewal of key areas of Halton Hills with financial incentives which encourage positive community change in the built environment. 2019 funding is available now for projects such as facade improvements, industrial landscaping, conversion of underutilized spaces, environmental site assessments and more. Safe Food for Canadians Regulations

Canada has one of the strongest food safety systems in the world. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is revising the Preventative Control Plan, a food-related risk-mitigation plan required for most food producers doing $100,000 or more in annual gross sales. CFIA will reduce unnecessary administrative burden on businesses by replacing 14 sets of regulations with one, and will help maintain and grow market access for Canada's agri-food and agricultural sector. New regulations go into effect January 15, 2019.

Innovation Superclusters - Advanced Manufacturing in Ontario

The Government of Canada is committed to growing the economy, creating good jobs and keeping Canada competitive. That is why the Government is bringing together small, medium-sized and large companies, academic institutions and not-for-profit organizations to generate bold ideas under the Innovation Superclusters Initiative (ISI).
On November 13, the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, announced the signing of an agreement to invest $230 million, matched dollar for dollar by the private sector, in the Ontario-based Next Generation Manufacturing Supercluster (NGen).

Global Food Innovation Awards

Nominations are open for the 2019 Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards. Two prizes of at least $100,000 each will be awarded. The first award recognizes a researcher (or group) who has advanced understanding of food production, distribution, consumption or safety/nutrition. The second recognizes contributions to improved nutritional health and/or food security, particularly those supporting disadvantaged communities.

The Yves Landry Foundation has established the Achieving Innovation and Manufacturing Excellence (AIME) global initiative, offering manufacturers in south, central and eastern Ontario up to $100,000 to offset the costs of training expenses related to supporting innovation and achieving a competitive advantage. Program concludes on or before August 31, 2019.

The Ontario By Bike (TM) Network is a FREE program that certifies and promotes bicycle-friendly businesses across Ontario. The Network is open to all cycling-related businesses and organizations interested in cycle tourism. It inspires visitors and residents to explore more by bike and offers links to useful cycling maps and day trip or multi-day cycling itineraries with stops at certified bicycle-friendly businesses along the way. Bike-friendly businesses located in Halton Hills can register their locations and add a map listing.
