HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town honoured 108 Achievement Award winners at a celebration held at the John Elliot Theatre on May 14. Mayor Bonnette and Councillors presented medallions and certificates to the award recipients in recognition of their accomplishments.
"I'm very proud of our young recipients and I consider them among our most valuable natural resources," said Mayor Bonnette. "I would like to thank the coaches, managers and parents who helped and inspired the teams to reach this level of excellence."
Awards were presented to the following:
Evangelina Briggs Silver Medalist at the 2019 USA Youth Bouldering Nationals
Cassidy Brooks Gold Medalist in the 2019 OFSAA Open Girls Slalom and Silver Medalist in the 2019 OFSAA Open Girls Giant Slalom
Jordan Stott 1st Place in the Line Throw at the 2018 Lifesaving World Championships
Georgetown District High School Boys Wrestling Team Bronze Medalists at the 2019 OFSAA Boys Wrestling Championships
Georgetown District High School Senior Boys Volleyball Team Gold Medalists at the 2018 OFSAA Boys Volleyball Championships
Georgetown District High School Swim Team Gold Medalists at the 2019 OFSAA Swimming Championships
The Achievement Awards program provides an opportunity for the Town of Halton Hills to recognize individuals, teams and groups that have brought honour to the community based on their accomplishments in education, arts, culture, sport, recreational and other special pursuits. This event is held twice annually and the next event takes place in October.
