Winter has officially arrived! Forecasters are saying that it will be a harsher winter than last year. Our staff will do their very best to ensure that the roads are maintained for our safety. Please be patient, as we have over 950 km of roads, 125 km of sidewalks and 25 municipal parking lots to maintain. The sequence of priority for roads is as follows: Regional (i.e. HWY 25, Trafalgar Rd), arterial (i.e. Guelph St., Queen St etc.) and collector roads (i.e. Delrex Blvd, Churchill Rd. etc.) followed by local streets.
Do you remember three years ago at this time? Many of us did not have power; our streets looked like a warzone with fallen trees, branches and hydro lines. Let’s hope that this year we don’t have another ice storm. Being prepared for an emergency is essential. A family emergency survival kit is simple and should be prepared ahead of time. Make sure your family knows where the survival kit is kept. Stock these six basics in your home: water, food, first aid supplies, tools and supplies such as, clothing, bedding and special items. Have your cell phone charged and cash on hand. Please visit our website for more information on how you can prepare.
Enjoy free public skating over Christmas break at the following locations:
Acton Arena & Mold-Masters SportsPlex – December 27, 28, 29, 30 from 2:00-3:20pm
Sponsored by Acton Rotary Club and Optimist Club of Halton Hills.
My annual State of the Town address to the business community hosted by the Chamber of Commerce can be found on our website:
For all of those hockey fans, there is a special game on Sunday January 15, 2017. The NHL Alumni will be facing off against the Halton Hills Firefighters at Mold-Masters SportsPlex at 1:00 p.m. All proceeds will go to C.A.S.h.h. in Halton Hills. C.A.S.h.h. does wonderful work for the residents and families in our community who are battling cancer.
I invite everyone to come out to the Acton Winter Carnival on Sunday January 29 at Prospect Park in Acton. Lots of outdoor activities are being planned. This will be a lot of fun for the whole family! Last year was a huge success, we just need more snow!
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and wish you all the best for the New Year!
