The Town of Halton Hills has adopted an Official Plan Amendment (No. 21) to implement policies to protect for the future location of transportation corridors in the Town of Halton Hills, which were identified in the Halton Peel Boundary Area Transportation Study, as well as the GTA West (Greater Toronto Area) Transportation Corridor Environmental Assessment (EA). The approval authority of this Official Plan Amendment is the Regional Municipality of Halton. Any person or public body will be entitled to receive notice of the decision of the approval authority if a written request to be notified of the decision (including the person or public body's address) is made to the approval authority. Any written request to be notified of the decision should be directed to Karyn Bennett, Regional Clerk at 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville, Ontario L6M 3L1.
The lands affected by the amendment are generally bounded by (Refer to Key Map):
North – 10 Side Road and the Hamlet of Norval
East – Winston Churchill Blvd.
South – Highway 401
West – rear lot line of lots fronting on Eighth Line
The Province of Ontario is undertaking the GTA West Environmental Assessment, and to date has determined the need for a future Provincial highway from Hwy 400 to Hwy 401/Hwy 407 in Halton Hills within the Preliminary Route Planning Study Area. Phase 2 of the GTA West EA, which will identify the location of the transportation corridor within the Study Area, has recently commenced.
In addition to the Town’s Official Plan Amendment, a Regional Official Plan Amendment is also being prepared to address corridor protection and phasing of the urban employment area in the Region of Halton’s Official Plan. The Town of Halton Hills will initiate a land use planning exercise (i.e. secondary plan) for those lands and potential additional lands.
