The Halton Hills Fire Department was formed in January, 1974 with the amalgamation of the Fire Departments of the Town of Acton and the Town of Georgetown. Their histories date back to the late 1800’s when citizens of both communities formed the first fire brigades to protect their communities.
As each town grew, the volunteer spirit grew with them. That spirit is alive and well in the Halton Hills Fire Department today. We are now a blend of part-time and full-time firefighters, working together, to protect our community from all hazards out of 3 strategically located fire stations.
We serve a community of 60,000 people over a 275 km2 area. We also provide contracted services to the Town of Milton and Town of Erin.
Our modern fleet consists of 3 pump rescues, 1 pump, 3 heavy rescues, 3 tankers, and 1 aerial ladder truck. Our 24/7 dispatch centre is staff by dedicated comm tech professionals. In addition to fire suppression, we provide haz-mat response, and emergency patient care. Our technical rescue team (TRT) provide hi-angle rescue, trench rescue, ice/swift water rescue, confined space, and large animal rescue.
We strive for continuous improvement in our training, equipment we use, and service to the community.
You have a role to play too by ensuring you have working smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms installed in your homes.
Rest assured that when called upon, our team of well-trained firefighters will be there to provide timely emergency response you can be proud of.
