Moya was first elected to Council in 1994, while continuing her career in healthcare. She is currently serving her seventh term on Council, where she has chaired and served on a number of committees, including a four terms as the Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee. For that work, she was awarded the Canadian Urban Institute's 2009 Local Hero Award.
Moya also enjoys a satisfying career in healthcare where for over 35 years she has worked in hospitals and health organizations across the GTA. She has held progressive leadership positions and recently worked in planning the care of paediatric and obstetric patients at hospitals in the GTA. She currently works in healthcare system data and quality improvement.
Moya believes it is important to consider the expectations of new residents when making local planning decisions and to build communities that reflect their needs.
