The Town of Halton Hills will be offering a very unique experience to our citizens. In honour of our sister city we are holding a Wenjiang Festival from October 23-28. A delegation of over 50 people from Wenjiang/Chengdu will include: dancers, top chefs, calligraphy instructors and even a hockey team. There are many special events scheduled this week. Already we have received 60 pieces of art, including traditional scroll paintings, photographs and examples of Chinese calligraphy. The art collection is on display at the Helson Gallery until October 29.
I hope everyone can take the opportunity to learn more about the art and culture of Wenjiang. It is quite a milestone for Halton Hills to have a festival with so many artists and performers coming from so far away to our community.
Here are just a few of the events taking place at time of print. For more information and updates, please visit our website at: haltonhills.ca/SisterCity/festival.php

Congratulations to the Acton Curling Club on their renovations. They received an Ontario 150 Capital Program Grant of $250,000, which, along with their own fundraising efforts made this major renovation possible as well as being fully accessible. The club looks terrific! For more information, please visit their website at actoncurlingclub.com.
Last month we had an open house on Vision Georgetown that was held at Christ the King School. It was a full house. I would like to thank all of those who came out and discussed the concepts of the future development in Georgetown.
Congratulations to: Shirley Broostad, Acton Citizen of the Year for 2017.
