    Acton Downtown Area Land Use Policy Review

    In May 2009, Council authorized the undertaking of the Acton Downtown Land Use Study. The purpose of the study was to:

    • determine whether any adjustments to the Acton Downtown Boundary and the boundaries of the related sub-areas  were warranted;
    • develop various alternatives for the Acton Downtown Boundary and the boundaries of any sub-areas within the boundary as may be necessary;
    • develop land use policy alternatives for the Downtown; and,
    • select and implement a preferred boundary for Downtown Acton and the related sub-areas along with supporting land use policies.

    On March 6, 2012, Council for the Corporation of the Town of Halton Hills passed By-law No. 2012-0023, being a By-law to adopt Amendment No. 6 to the Official Plan of the Town of Halton Hills.  Official Plan Amendment No. 6 implements the recommendations resulting from the Acton Downtown Area Land Use Policy Review.  See Notice of Adoption.
    The Acton Downtown Official Plan Amendment is aimed at facilitating appropriate redevelopment and revitalization in Downtown Acton, while protecting the character and stability of existing residential neighbourhoods.
