Calling Plein Air Painters!
Plein Air Painting Challenge in Norval – Sunday, August 14, 2016
Organized by the Ontario Plein Air Society (OPAS) in conjunction with Carter Farms and the Helson Gallery.
$500 in prizes sponsored by the York Wilson Foundation for the Visual Arts
With a rich history and scenic location on the Credit River, the community of Norval is the perfect spot for plein air painting. Norval offers artists the natural beauty of the Willow Park Ecology Centre in the Silver Creek watershed along with architectural and historic sites of interest. Local treasures include historic cemeteries and churches such as the Presbyterian Church and Manse which was the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery from 1926—1935. A heritage garden named in Lucy’s honour is also located in Norval. Our host venue, Carter Farms offers woodland, meadow, pasture and river locations for painting. Discover what drew noted Group of Seven painter A.J. Casson to Norval in the 1920s and 30s, and what continues to draw artists today!
