Cemeteries:

The Town is responsible for the maintenance and operation of both municipally owned cemeteries - Greenwood and Fairview Cemeteries, located in Georgetown and Acton respectively. The Town's Finance Department administers the areas of plot sales and cemetery records. Cemetery inquiries should be directed to the following:

Cemeteries Handbook:

Staff have prepared a handbook for the public to illustrate the different products that are available, standard regulations and roles and responsibilities. Illustrated with photographs and drawings, the handbook will be a valuable tool to anyone contemplating the purchase of a lot or niche, or maintaining the burial site of a loved one. Copies are available from the Recreation and Parks, and Finance Departments.

Cemeteries Regulations:

Cemetery use is controlled by Municipal By-law and includes the following provisions:

• Wreaths must follow the season and be kept in good condition.
• Pets are not permitted in the cemetery.
• Vehicle speed is limited to 10 km/hour.
