Building Permit Applications
The official provincial Building Permit application forms must be used for all permit applications for construction or for demolition. The Town has created new forms for Change of Use and for Pool Enclosure permit applications.
The council approved Building-By-law is available for information. The various rates for which Building Permit Fees are calculated are available in the council approved (2007-0021) By-law.
All building permit rates can be viewed on an abridged version of the fee rate list and are available at the department counter for your reference.
Among other changes and amendments, the Building Code has been revised to include an explicit list of applicable laws that must be complied with prior to the issuance of a Building Permit. An abridged version of the applicable law list, pertaining to common residential projects, is also available at the department counter for your reference.
Building Permit applicants for houses and other small Part 9 buildings are no longer required to retain their own qualified person to perform plans examination, rough-in and final inspections for their proposed HVAC systems. Town staff will assume these tasks at no additional cost to the applicant.
It is vital that builders, contractors, owners and designers are aware of the requirements of Ministry regulations.
* The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Building & Development Branch, has produced many helpful guides and other publications to assist Building Permit Applicants.
