TIME (Together In Movement & Exercise) is a new Recreation & Parks fitness program that will provide exercise and fitness opportunities for individuals with neuromuscular conditions. The volunteer position will support the Fitness Leader to assist class participants.

Volunteers will assist staff in facilitating the Swim for Life program (formerly the Learn to Swim program). Volunteers must have completed Swimmer Level 6 or demonstrate strong swimming skills by completing an in pool skills screening. Volunteers are required to wear a full piece bathing suit. TIME – Together In Movement & Exercise Volunteer Program Assistant
A community exercise program for adults with balance and mobility challenges. Are you interested in helping out a fellow peer or are you interested in working with adults with a disability/and or a mobility impairment? We are in need of volunteers to assist in a program designed to help participants improve their balance and strength. Mandatory full day free training session on Friday, February 3rd, 2017 from 9:00am-4:00pm. Lunch will be provided. Together In Movement & Exercise Position Details

This program will be custom tailored to meet the needs of the participants. Content includes skateboard terminology, equipment, board maintenance, balance, ramps, stairs and tricks. Make use of the many park obstacles ranging in difficulty from beginner to intermediate. NOTE: Safety is an integral part of this sport so all participants MUST wear helmet, knee and elbow pads.

We have many different summer camp programs happening throughout the summer. Camps run in both Georgetown and Acton and range from general programs to science camp, drama and sports camp. Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of one full week of camp, but are welcome to do additional weeks if available. Volunteers will assist staff in facilitating the camp programs and sometimes provide extra support to campers with special needs when needed. Volunteer Position Details

The application deadline for summer 2017 volunteering is May 19, 2017. Mandatory interviews will be held on Saturday May 27th, applicants will be contacted a week prior to confirm interview time.

The following volunteer opportunities do not require completion of a police check prior to getting started, however, all volunteers must still complete an interview and appropriate screening process and must be a minimum of 14 years old unless otherwise stated.
Mayor's Youth Action Committee
Gain valuable leadership experience while having fun and meeting new people! You will have the opportunity to actively organize and plan special events across the Town. You will also be an advocate for youth issues in partnership with the community. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month. Volunteers age 13-18 welcome. Volunteer Position Details

There are a variety of opportunities available at Hillsview Active Living Centres such as; reception, activity convenors, committee chairs, board members and special events.

There are often one time special events happening throughout the year such as facility or parks openings at which we can use some extra assistance with tasks such as; children's activities, registration table, food distribution, set-up, clean-up, etc. If you are interested in this kind of opportunity please let us know and you will be added to the list of volunteers to contact as opportunities arise. The trail steward volunteer program supports the successful operation of the Town of Halton Hills trail network by performing regular inspections, reporting deficiencies and performing light maintenance duties like removing litter. Volunteer Position Details
There are sometimes opportunities available within our Parks Department which may include; trail photography, equipment & sign inventory, trail clean-ups & trail monitoring. Task timelines are very flexible and can work around the volunteer's schedule. Special equipment and training will be provided if necessary, volunteers may be required to provide their own safety boots. These opportunities are project dependent and not ongoing
There are often opportunities to assist at Town facilities with various administrative tasks such as; filing, data entry, and special projects. These opportunities generally take place during regular office hours 8:30am - 4:30pm, but times are flexible. Volunteer Position Details

What is a Docent?
A docent is a person who provides information or guided tours in a museum or art gallery. We are looking for volunteers 18 years of age or older to volunteer at the Helson Gallery as Docents. Volunteer Position Details
When: Helson Gallery operating hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 1 to 5pm, Thursday from 5-8:30pm and during theatre performances. Volunteers are asked to commit 4 hours per week for a 12 week session.

What Does an Usher Do?
Ushers help to ensure theatre shows run smoothly. Duties include ticket taking, handing out programs, showing guests to their seats and assisting guests during the show. We are looking for volunteers 14 years of age or older to volunteer at the John Elliott Theatre as Ushers. Volunteer Position Details
When: Shifts vary from approximately 3-5 hours which includes the run time of the show and assistance with clean up afterwards. Volunteers are asked to commit to a 12 week session.
Where: The John Elliott Theatre is located in the Halton Hills Library & Cultural Centre
