Often times, staff who work in youth programming are youth themselves. Without appropriate training, it can be difficult for them to create the kind of environment which will attract and retain program participants. This Workshop will provide you with a training tool you can use with your Youth Staff. It covers such topics as:
- why be youth friendly
- what is positive youth development
youth outcomes
- developmental needs of youth
- developmental assets
- fostering resiliency
- addressing limits
- connecting with youth
You will receive electronic copies of the handouts and the PowerPoint, into which your individualized agency or department logos and information can be inserted to help you make this training your own! You can then train your Youth Staff and others who come into contact with youth as part of their daily work (e.g. customer service, transit and/or custodial staff This workshop is also designed to help communities seeking to achieve Youth Friendly Community Recognition from Play Works position themselves to achieve Criteria #8 – The Community Supports

There is no fee to attend this training event. Only 25 spaces are available. Participants will be helping to create a video resource which will be used “in the field” by youth-serving agencies and youth development workers. The resource will ultimately be made available via DVD or online.
